Yes, it is not about real hens and chicks it is the name of
a perennial plant that belongs to the group of succulents that adds unique
color and texture to any summer garden with its green pointy leaves and red tips.
This plant likes to grow in full sun.it belongs to zones 4-7.the plant can grow
up to 6” tall and 12” wide.it blooms from mid to late summer. The botanical
name for this plant is Sempervivam. It is planted in way that the crown of the
plant rests at or above the soil surface after watering.it can be planted in
spring and summer season. Carmen hens and chicks can be planted in any type of
soil like dry soil, sandy soil and loamy soil, provided, the soil is well
draining and does not let the plant feel wet for long. This plant can be grown
not only in the ground but also in beautiful containers. It can grow quite fast
when planted in full sun.it is one of the dessert plants and so enjoys full hot
sun.
HENS AND CHICKS COMMANDER HAY
One of the plants that is perfect for container gardening as
well as rock gardens is known as hens and chicks commander hay. It is one of
the succulents that is quite tough and drought tolerant; it has grey/green
leaves that change their color to red at the end of the season. It belongs to
zones 3-7.it can grow up to 6 inches in send flowers to Philippines height and 12 inches in width. It is
planted in full sun. Its blooming time starts in mid-summer and continues till
the end of the season. It is planted in a way that the crown of the plant rests
at or above the soil surface. The soil used to
plant it should be sandy, loamy, clay or dry type with good drainage. It
can be planted in summer and spring seasons. Commander Hay is considered as one
of the evergreen plants. These are known for their extended blooms as they
wither away slowly and stay longer than many other plants.
