BEAUTIES ON EARTH

No cottage garden can ever be complete without the perennials that are responsible to add life to all the gardens throughout the year and even more. There are two types of plants that gardeners grow in their gardens to make them look pretty the whole year thorough, these include perennials that are known to be hardy and long lived and need less maintenance and once planted they flower every year on a specific time, the other type is annuals that need to be planted every year and need specific environment to grow. Annuals need more care than perennials and can die if neglected. Among hundreds of perennials there are some that have been very popular for ages and there popularity is ever increasing, here are some of them.

HELIOPSIS
It is bright yellow flower that resembles the sunflower. It is a hardy plant that needs very little care. It should always be planted in full sun as even if it is planted in partial shade it does need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight to grow properly. Manypeople call it false sunflower. The gypsophilia snowflake starts blooming in July and continues to bloom for a long period. It can be cut in bloom time and hung to dry for later use in dried flower arrangements. It belongs to zones 4-8.it is usually planted in full sun and blooms profusely in summer. It is a drought tolerant perennial that demands less care and attracts hummingbirds and butterflies but repels deer.
