Social Flowers

The phone and tablet charging stations might be a huge trend for 2016, but who wants a bunch of ugly wires on display? Florists are creating flower bed arrangements which conceal the cables so your device can, quite literally, rest on a bed of roses. Floral genius.

4: Sweet things
The painterly trend looks set to stay, and we love the latest canvas: cake! This design has orange roses, gerberas, sweet peas and thistle painted on a perfect backdrop of white royal icing. Hand painted “water color” cake.

5:Hair bouquet
The circlet trend has Online ordering flowers in manila and San Francisco grown into a full on petal posy this summer. Florist Holly chapple says she wanted to create something Avant grade, soft and romantic (left). “I came up with the design in my garden,” she says. It features miniature blue berries, blooming vines and mock orange from the garden, flowers from my tulip poplar tree and locally grown ranunculus and poppies.”

6:Woodland wonders
Natural and rustic weddings with a little glamour woven in are big news, so this design by Chelsea Lee flowers is the perfect example. “We wanted to add elegance to our farm backdrop without taking away from the natural beauty of the setting, says Chelsea Taylor. We hug wreaths of grapevine, “silver Dollar” eucalyptus, blue eryngium and “Juliet” David Austin roses to the branches of a big, beautiful oak tree.

7: Growing solo
Sometimes a flower is so perfect all on its own that other bloom will simply detract from its beauty. Karin wood ward of Haute, create beautiful single flower bouquets, where she incorporates one large bloom, such as a peony, king protean, large chrysanthemum or calla lily, which is the size of a small bouquet. “Either keep the flower single or accent it with minimal greenery,” she says. “It’s an elegant choice for bridesmaids and flower girls.

8: Air plant
The particular bride will be looking for wedding flowers which will last throughout the day and still look beautiful the morning after. So the trend for air plants, tropical varieties which don’t need soil and are practically indestructible, make perfect sense. Work them into buttonholes, bouquets or quirky centerpiece arrangements.

9: Precious metals
Gold, silver and copper are all bringing a touch of gilt loaded glamour to table centers. “I’ve learnt that metals can reflect the glow in a ballroom, outdoor or private setting,” says Florist Carrie Beamer of Flora Fetish.
